Blogs give you control over keywords and on-page targeting. Podcasts give you something blogs increasingly can’t: original content, real links, and distribution you don’t have to earn one backlink at a time. In 2026, the fastest path usually runs through both — but podcasting is the underused half.
Where the blog still wins
Precise keyword targeting, internal linking, and conversion control. If you need to rank for a specific commercial query, a well-built page is still the tool.
Where the podcast pulls ahead
Uniqueness and distribution. AI has made written content cheap and samey; a recorded expert conversation is hard to fake and instantly syndicated. Greg Digneo of Content Guppy put it plainly on the Unscripted SEO podcast: going on a podcast is “way more valuable to me as an SEO agency than going through my content being like, is this too long, is this chunked.”
The honest answer: feed one with the other
Record the conversation, then mine it for the blog. One episode becomes a recap post, two articles, and quotes that strengthen pages you already have. That’s the model behind podcast SEO — the podcast is the engine, the blog is the output.
